Linkin Park goes beyond ‘Nu Metal’
Filed Under news | Leave a Comment
Minutes To Midnight is a departure from previous Linkin Park albums. Band members Chester Bennington, Rob Bourdon, Brad Delson, Dave Farrell, Joe Hahn and Mike Shinoda have strayed from their “Nu Metal” roots and have experimented with different sounds throughout the new album. The result seems to have worked, as Minutes To Midnight has already been certified Double Platinum in the United States and sold more than 625,000 units in its first week, making it one of the most successful debuts in recent history. Putting In A Lot Of Work’ For Next Album
Filed Under news | Leave a Comment
The Pulse of Radio reportst that LINKIN PARK plans to cut down the space between new studio releases this time around, hoping not to repeat the four-year gap between 2003’s “Meteora” and 2007’s “Minutes to Midnight”. Singer Mike Shinoda told The Pulse of Radio that the band members have been working on new material for a while and that he’s even found time to record some demos while on tour. “Actually I’ve been doing a couple of studio dates out on the road, which is new for me,” he said. “I did a date when we were touring in Germany, one date in Prague, a bunch of dates in New York, and I’m excited about that. It’s been very cool for us. So long story short, we’ve been putting in a lot of work and hopefully we could have a new record out next year.”

Projekt Revolution
Filed Under news, prorev | Leave a Comment
Cornell: “Between Soundgarden and Audioslave, [I’ve actually] played Lollapalooza three different times on the main stage,” Cornell says during a recent chat. After three different bands and a successful solo career that’s spanned almost 25 years, the 44-year-old believes festivals are the best home for his diverse songbook; he never feels boxed in by genre-specific expectations — something he loves about Projekt Revolution. “I think when you look at just the different bands [on this festival tour] and compare it to other festival tours, it’s kind of the least genre-oriented. Lollapalooza originally came out that way, it wasn’t genre oriented at all; the whole idea of the tour was mix it up as much as possible. And that’s the point [here].”
What continues to set Projekt Revolution apart from music festival tours that seem more concerned with promoting the sponsor — liquor, cars, shoes, energy drinks — is that true musical spirit. While commerce will always be an important factor, most of the artists don’t show up to get rich (many are already riding commercial highs). They instead show up because they want what those fabled few had during Lollapalooza’s heyday — and what perhaps tomorrow’s musicians will lament about Projekt Revolution’s run, too. [MORE]

The Linkin Park Survey
Filed Under others | Leave a Comment
It’s always stuck me as to how diverse the Linkin Park Community is.
The band has fans from all over the world, and holds no barriers towards
race, religion, or other tastes in music. Fans have joined the bands journy
from many stages, some from back in the Xero days, others, as recently as
Minutes To Midnight.
In the 9 years since the Hybrid Theory EP Was released, Linkin Park have
evolved. Some of us like the evolution process others, less so. But what do
the Linkin Park community really think about the biggest selling band of
the 21st Century?
The Plan
To have the largest Linkin Park Survey ever. More in depth, more
informative than any other.
We want to know your full in depth views on the band, from your favourite
and worst songs from each album, to your favourite video, favourite LPTV
episode, thoughts on lp.com, lpu.com, the way the fansites work, live shows
and sets, tours, and more…..
So What Do I Do?

THE SUMMER MUSIC season is becoming more crowded than ever with festival tours crisscrossing the country and huge destination festivals staged coast to coast.
Because of that, Linkin Park vocalist Mike Shinoda says, it’s important for festival tours to have a distinct identity. So when his band put together the Projekt Revolution tour, which stops Saturday in Virginia Beach, it chose the name to help further that goal.
“This is obviously not an Ozzfest. It’s not a Warped Tour. Our idea is to showcase groups that were doing something revolutionary, something original, something different, either now or they’re known for that over time.” [MORE]
