Linkin Park play on
Filed Under articles, chester | Leave a Comment
He says that while guitarists Mike Shinoda and Brad Delson liked his material, they didn’t think it would fit in with the songs on Minutes to Midnight.
“I played (one of the songs) … and they said, ‘That’s a great song, but we don’t know what we could do with it’,” Bennington says. “I knew the song was good, but I also knew the elements of the song the guys felt they could add to were small, and to take those elements and make something new out it would destroy the original body of the song.”
Underlining the extent to which songwriting conditions have changed in Linkin Park, he adds: “Where we’re at now with how we view ourselves as songwriters, had these songs been written now, there probably wouldn’t be a Dead by Sunrise.”
This might suggest Dead by Sunrise are merely a less conventional Linkin Park. Not so. Although Bennington believes Linkin Park in their current state would be receptive to some of the material they rejected, that material, as played by Dead by Sunrise, still sounds distinct from Linkin Park. Chester Bennington, singer of Linkin Park and Dead By Sunrise, sponsors the campaign “Ink, Not Mink” by animal rights group PETA. With nakedness, he supports the rights of the animals
California (dek) - “Ink, Not Mink” - Color instead of mink. That’s the motto of Peta2.de-campaign in the fight against the fur industry. As naked godparent, Linkin Park and Dead By Sunrise front man Chester Bennington stands by the animal rights group.
True to the motto “Be Comfortable in Your Own Skin, and Let Animals Keep Theirs”, Bennington presents himself on posters in PETA-manner, almost naked. Only his many tattoos adorn his upper body.
In a related interview, Chester Bennington clearly explains how important all creatures are to him. “I firmly believe in animal rights,” he states.
People had to understand what cruelty is behind the fur industry that kills animals by electrocuting them and in which animals experience a cruel death. “We need to show our respect … for all creatures of this world.”

Chester Bennington’s ‘Ink, Not Mink’ Ad and Contest
Filed Under articles, chester, intervies, news, videos | Leave a Comment
I still remember hearing Linkin Park’s “One Step Closer” for the first time and thinking, “Who is this?! I love this! I love that voice!” Three albums, two Grammys, multiple megastar collaborations, and one side project later, and Chester Bennington still hasn’t let me down.
Needless to say, I had a good feeling that he’d say “Yes!” when we asked him to pose for peta2’s “Ink, Not Mink” campaign. And check it out—I was right. I knew Chester had a soft spot for animals. We were lucky to steal a few minutes with him (fronting two bands keeps a guy busy, you know) while he was prepping for the release of Dead By Sunrise’s debut album, Out of Ashes.
Complete the form below by December 11, 2009, for a chance to win a copy of Dead By Sunrise’s debut release, Out of Ashes, signed by Chester!
Chester decided to work with us to help spread the word about the cruelty inherent in the fur industry. He wants his fans to know that millions of rabbits, foxes, raccoons, minks, dogs, cats, and other animals are killed every year so that they can be turned into clothing and accessories. Many are even skinned alive just so that people can wear them.
“I got involved with PETA’s ‘Ink, Not Mink’ campaign because I love animals. I’m a big believer in animal rights. What’s really important is, for people to understand, is the cruelty behind the fur industry,” Chester told us. “Electrocuting animals, skinning them while they’re alive—these are acts of inhumanity. Because it’s out of sight, it’s usually out of mind for most people, and we need to show our respect for … all creatures of this world.” Check out the rest of Chester’s exclusive interview below.

Linkin Park Album Will Be ‘Grandiose Insanity’
Filed Under articles, chester, dead by sunrise, interviews, videos | Leave a Comment
Here’s a new article/interview of Chester about Linkin Park’s new album and the process, and an interview about Dead By Sunrise.
“It’s like, ‘Oh, let’s go and make this giant opus that no one’s ever done. It’s going to cost billions of dollars and take forever.’ And we’re like, ‘Wait a second, it’s going to cost billions of dollars and take forever,’ ” he laughed. “[So] we might need to just make a record and still try to do a concept but figure out a way to do it without actually waiting another five or six years to put out a record, to try to pull off all the grandiose insanity we were thinking of doing. And we’re doing that. So I would imagine, I’m guessing even conservatively, that we’ll probably have a record out by June of next year.” [More]

Do you plan on touring with Dead by Sunrise?
Yeah, we like to tour as much as we can. It’s gonna be more difficult to tour with Dead by Sunrise than with Linkin Park, simply because Linkin Park is No. 1 and they take the highest priority. So if I need to go in the studio or if I need to go tour with Linkin Park, that’s going to stop whatever Dead by Sunrise is doing. But I’m confident that we’ll be able to do plenty of shows to go around and play as much as we can for people who are fans of Dead by Sunrise. [More]

Linkin Park singer forges side project from ashes

Here’s another article about Dead By Sunrise
Dead By Sunrise began as a solo side project that turned into a project with two of his best friends, Amir Derakh and Ryan Shuck, members of the bands Orgy and Julien-K. The band also includes Brandon Belsky, Elias Andra and Anthony “Fu” Valcic.
Shuck was best man at Bennington’s wedding, and Derakh met Bennington when Linkin Park was recording its debut album in the same studio as Orgy a decade ago. “We always thought Chester would do something like this — just not with us,” Derakh said. [More]

Here’s an article by Orange Pop about Dead By Sunrise
“While we were playing,” remembers Ryan Shuck, the band’s guitarist, “people were yelling ‘TOOL!’ It was one of the hardest shows … but we didn’t expect it to be easy. Between all of us (in the band) we’ve sold 57 million records, and we didn’t get there by going in front of a bunch of people and expecting not to have to fight for it.” [More]

Billboard article: Dead By Sunrise

“We’ll make records when we can,” Bennington — who started forming Dead By Sunrise, originally as Snow White Tan, in 2005 — tells Billboard.com. “I don’t think people should expect to see an album every couple of years. I’m definitely not going to tell Linkin Park, ‘Hey, can you guys take some time off so I can go work on Dead By Sunrise?’ That’s not gonna happen. But we definitely see this as something we’ll continue to do. This isn’t a one-time thing for us. Every five years or so I could imagine there’d be a Dead By Sunrise record.” [More]

Dead By Sunrise article

Dead By Sunrise have posted a very interesting article on their MySpace account. Below you can read an excerpt from it. Head over to Dead By Sunrise’s official MySpace to read the complete article.
While Bennington is very proud of Out Of Ashes, he wants the millions of LP fans around the world to understand Dead By Sunrise is just another vehicle for Bennington, not a replacement. “Everyone in Linkin Park is supportive of me on this,” he says. “We’re all very close and honest with each other. If those guys had any concerns about whether this was going to hurt the band or keep us from making a great record, they would’ve told me and this record wouldn’t be coming out. Even if the record was finished I’d wait until the right time to do it.”

CHESTER BENNINGTON’S DIRTY PROJECT
Filed Under articles, chester, dead by sunrise | Leave a Comment
Chester Bennington formed Dead By Sunrise because he wanted to make “dirty” songs.
The Linkin Park frontman recently debuted his new side project and says he formed the group so he could branch out from the ‘In The End’ hitmakers’ usual sound.
He explained: “I had some songs which sounded so different and had this grungy, dirty feel to them - and Linkin Park kind of stay away from the grungy vibe, but I felt it served the songs well. So I got a little push from my friend Ryan Shuck, who plays guitar in the band, and he kind of helped me make the choice to start the band, and I’m really glad he did because I think we’ve made a really great record. ”
The rocker insists that he has no problem with juggling the two bands as he has learned how to take things one at a time.
He added to BANG Showbiz: “My schedule is complicated but I have kind of taken on this new philosophy which is don’t think about anything too much and tackle things one piece at a time and what looks like a mountain actually turns out to be a bunch of little pebbles stacked up on top of each other.”

Here’s an article about Chester bringing Dead By Sunrise on tour with Linkin Park.
During the band’s current overseas tour, Bennington has brought his new band with him. During Linkin Park’s set, he and Dead By Sunrise will perform a three-song show. “I will be coming out at some point during the Linkin Park set performing new music by Dead by Sunrise, and we’ll come back and do Linkin Park,” he tells Noisecreep. “It’s just kind of, ‘Hey, here’s what I’m doing, check it out.’” [More]
